July 2nd. The Helms crew.

Another stellar day with Clay Helms, his son Austin. We caught another 22 reds and all on 6 pound tackle. Here are the pictures, enjoy.

July 1. Unbelievable!!!!

On July 1st, I took the Underwoods fishing. Within 5 minutes of getting to the spot, we had 5 big reds on. It didn't stop there either. We caught double and triple headers the whole trip, mullet, cut mullet, shrimp, gulp baits, minnows, it didn't matter. They ate everything we threw at them. 22 big reds and 4 keepers. What a morning.

Glad to be back!!!

After taking a month off from the inshore to take a boat to North Carolina and Blue Marlin fish, I am glad to be back in the Lowcountry catching the hell out of the fish.

John, Ray, and Larry- What can I say?

What a way to start the week. These guys from Augusta and John from Juanita Greenburg's, caught 14 big reds the last time they went and that was going to be hard to beat right? Wrong, not as hard as we thought. In the first two hours, we caught 12 trout over three pounds and 6 over four with the biggest one weighing in at almost 6 pounds!!!! What a day.

Slow start to a hot week.

Monday and Tuesday, the 6th and 7th of April, were both really tough days. The wind was blowing incredibly hard and the water was really muddy. A few trout were caught here and there on DOA's but nothing to write home about. Wednesday was a different story all together! I took Jimmy Herman and some of his buddies and we caught 21/25 reds in the waterway on crabs. It was stellar day but I know no idea how much better the fishing was going to get. on Thursday the 9th, I took Charles Weinhymer and his kids in the morning and TJ sack and some clients of his in the afternoon. The day could not have been better, we caught a total of 39 Reds that day in Copahee Sound and everyone had a blast. The end of the week was bad due to weather but it was a productive 3 days in the middle of the week.

Hottest Spring Bite in Years!!!!!!

What a month it has been. Business is better than last year but still a bit slow. The fishing on the other hand has been the best I have ever seen in the Spring! I don't know if I'm getting lucky or the fish are getting stupid and I really don't care either way. It has been awesome and does not show any signs of slowing down. On the 4th I took an old client who has had the luck on his side eveytime. Last year he caught 14 big red fish with me and this year we fished the sounds and hooked into a dozen and caught most of them in the 25-30 inch range. They were chomping at the bit for pre-shed crabs (peelers). The next day we fished the same sounds on the SW wind and again, could not stay out of the big reds. Jesse Rhodes and his parents caught 8 big ones in the first hour and all on 6 lb tackle!

The past couple of weeks have been pretty crazy. I have done a few trips and the fishing has been great. Chris Brownlee of BB and T and some of his clients went with me on the 20th. The wind was blowing but we managed to get 18 Red fish bites and caught 11 of them. All nice sized fish too. Since then the most notable catches have been trout up the Wando on DOA's and Bass Assassin Grubs. The root beer and gold colors have been working well. As always, the Reds are eating blue crabs and mullet on the bottom. I'll try to keep you posted as often as I can. Get out there and fish while the fishing is good!
