The past couple of weeks have been pretty crazy. I have done a few trips and the fishing has been great. Chris Brownlee of BB and T and some of his clients went with me on the 20th. The wind was blowing but we managed to get 18 Red fish bites and caught 11 of them. All nice sized fish too. Since then the most notable catches have been trout up the Wando on DOA's and Bass Assassin Grubs. The root beer and gold colors have been working well. As always, the Reds are eating blue crabs and mullet on the bottom. I'll try to keep you posted as often as I can. Get out there and fish while the fishing is good!

More lamb than lion!
Yesterday was a whole different ball Game. Finally the water is warm enough to get away from the dock fishing and the wind is not blowing. We started out around Ben sawyer bridge and caught 14 nice slotty reds. e then fished around Breach Inlet and picked up 4 or 5 more. All in all, 18/24 on the Red Fish. I think this week is going to be great with the weather letting up and the sun shining. It should warm the water up and talk the Reds and Trout into biting. I'll keep you posted. For now, look for clean water above 60 degrees and put some crabs and mullet on the bottom. Put the rods in the rod holders. Down hold onto them!!!!!!! Light leader, 12-15 pounds, should be the right combo. Good luck.
Wind Insurance
I fished Saturday with our good friends from The Farm Bureau. It was little cool and windy but the fishing wasn't that bad. They had 30 people and we took 9 boats. I am pretty sure the top boats were Champ Smith with 12 reds and myself with 11 reds. Only one boat out of the 9 got skunked but I won't say who that was. He is a great fisherman though and it really surprised me. We caught most of our fish in the creeks around docks and the water was 55-56 degrees. It turned out a little better that we had anticipated but it was till tough. The tide stay high for a long time which hurt us a lot. It will keep getting better as the temp keeps going up. Until next time, keep your head up, its easier to see where your going.

ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE
Yesterday was windy one but I was greeted at the landing by some welcomed news. The temp gauge read 59.2 degrees. I knew as we headed up the waterway that it would keep climbing and it did, 62 degrees! That's what I'm talking about. When the water gets up and stays above 60, we are home free until December. The wind hurt us yesterday and we had to hide and dock fish all day but we still managed to catch 5 Reds and we had a few more bites. When the wind finally breaks, the fishing should be incredible. I have a few trips this week and they should be good. Until next time, go fishing cause you can't catch em on the couch.

Cold and Windy
Had a nice couple of days this past week with regards top the weather. I had a trip Saturday morning with three guys from up the road in North Carolina. We found a school of reds right off the bat but they would not eat a thing. We tried crabs, DOA's, spoons, grubs, minnows. You name it we tried it. We left the pot flat and went up the Wando River and fished around the barge to try and pick up a sheep or a red and no dice. The wind picked up and it dropped 20 degrees. So much for a nice Saturday on the water. The company was great but the fish did not cooperate. We'll have to get on thm next time boys. Until then, bundle up cause you can always take it off!

Winter Break
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy New Year! This pat Sunday, December 28, I fished a double. I had Charlie Chamberlin Jr. and Sr. in the morning and Clay Olsen and is dad in the afternoon. The day started out tough but we ended the first trip strong with a dozen Sheepsheads and 4 Reds.

On the second trip, we tried to catch some Sheeps but to no avail. We fished a ton of spots looking for the Reds and Trout and came up empty. In the last hour of the trip, we finally put a quick 10 fish in the boat. Including these two beauties.

Like it has been for the past few months, the fishing is outstanding right now. Today was a little hard with the wind blowing 30 but we caught a Redfish. It was disappointing for a lot of guides from what I hear. It should be nothing short of spectacular when the wind stops! Thanks to all my clients for a great year of fishing and don't forget to checkout TideLine magazine next week. I am going to have the cover shot! Until next time, remember, you can't catch em from the couch!!!
