Just wanted to see if this thing is working. I am now going to be able to put pictures right on the blog. This one was taken while doing an article for SC Sportsman. We caught a bunch of keeper reds in the 20-23 inch range and some that were in the 30 inch range. It was a great day of fishing and I can't wait to take these guys, and Lady, again . I have to thank Brian Carrol of Marine Markting Group for taking the photos, Dan Kibler of SC Sportsman for doing the artcile. I hope everyone checks it out. Its that time of year!!!!!
I hope everyone is doing well. The past few weeks have been busy but very productive. I am sorry that I have not been posting to this blog very much but hopefully I am about to make up for it. I guess I will start with yesterday. I took a few return clients from the Farm Bureau Insurance agency up to Bull's Bay and absolutely crushed the fish!!! Not only did we catch almost 60 fish but we also caught 6 different species including 36 Redfish, 11 Black Drums, 6 Sheepshead, 2 large trout, 1 black sea bass, and 1 stingray. What a trip. Last weekend we had the Lowcountry Red Trout Tournament for Cystic Fibrosis. I won top honors with Guide to Grand Champion Angler, Guide to Grand Champion Team, Guide to Largest Trout and Guide to Grand Champion Fly Division. It was a great weekend but the real winner was Cystic Fibrosis. We raised a net total of over 130,000.00 in two days!
The fishing has been absolutely outstanding! As long as you can find some clean water that is a little warmer than surrounding areas, you should be able to do well. They have been biting the DOA's very well and the Electric Chicken paddle tails also.

Hot Weather and Hot Fishing!!!!
August 1st
Peter Geosits and his kids had a great trip. They wanted to catch sharks so that's what we did. We started in the Harbor catching 10-25 lb Bonnet head Sharks!!! After quite a few, we decided to go catch some reds. W ventured up past wild dunes and found some clean water on the incoming tide and caught 9 nice ones. It seems that nine is a frequent number this year.
In the afternoon, I had a couple of great kids and their mom, Kathryn. Braxton was one of the kids and was very enthusiastic about fishing. He wanted to catch sharks while his brother wanted to catch Reds. We caught a huge 35 inch Red at the jetties and a few sharks. We then proceeded to the waterway where we caught a few more Reds. It was a windy and stormy afternoon and we came home a little early. It was a successful trip though and I will se them again over fall break.
I'll try to update the site once a weak. Stay tuned and until text time remember, every fish looks better in photos than in the freezer!

Good Showing for "Joe's Buddy"
We made a great showing for the tournament on July 19th. We caught 6 big Sheepshead in the morning and weighed in two of them around 5 pounds. We also finished out the day behind Sullivan's Island catching Reds in the last minute to weigh in two nice ones. The Reds had to have at least 3 spots so the other 12 we caught did not count! 3rd place Red and 4th place Sheep!!!! A great day to raise money for cancer.
On July 28th, I took my parent's dentist, Nick Papadea, and his cousin. We caught some nice 30+ inch reds north of wild dunes and a couple more in the waterway behind Sullivan's Is. The wind was blowing and the water was muddy but we pulled out a few nice ones anyway.

Windy!!!!!
Yesterday I took Greg Gambell, his 16 year old daughter, 13 year old son, and their two cousins fishing for reds and trout. We started out at 9:00 and headed north up the waterway. Within 15 minutes, we had a nice 20-25 inch red on! One of the girl thought it was too much to handle and wound up letting the fish get under the boat and broke it off. We had 6 nice bites at that spot in the fist 45 minutes. They missed all of them. Oh well, chalk it up to a learning experience I guess. We ran from the rain for a minute then made our way to some docks. After catching one red fish, we ended up the day with 1 break off and 7 missed bites and 3 pulled hooks. The kids just were not feeling it yesterday. Better luck next time! It's days like this that are hardest. I think the main reason we missed fish was because of the wind. It pushes your line around and the current acts funny and its sometimes hard for the inexperienced to see or feel the bite.
This coming Saturday, we have a tournament to benefit the "Joe's Buddy" organization. Joe was a local young man that was very popular and well liked. He passed away a few years ago and some of his friends started the foundation to make an artificial reef in his honor. Saturday is the 1st annual fishing tournament to help raise money to build another reef. Trout, Red Fish, Sheepshead, and Flounder are going to be our target species for the day. I had about a week off since the last entry. I don't know why it is slower this year but it is. On 6/20, I took the winners of the raffle at the annual SOS cookout at Gold Bug Island. Rewis Morris and some of his buddies decided to try and catch a fish or two. We fished the outgoing tide around the harbor and wound up with 9 reds, 5 trout, and 4 flounder. Another stellar day on the water.
On the 23rd, I had return client Jim McGuire and his son Shawn. The water was really green and dirty but the fishing was still ok. We caught 10 nice reds with the largest weighing in at 15 pounds. All of the fish ate whole and cut menhaden.
On the 25th, I took Trip Cuttino to catch some reds and trout and to our surprise, we ended up with 6 reds, 2 sheepshead, and a 9 lb trout! The biggest trout I have ever seen caught.
Harry Wedewer and his troops call me up to go on the 26th and we again and another good day of fishing with 10 slot reds and a nice flounder. We fished the outgoing tide up past wild dunes and the water was green and dirty.
On the 28th, I took Brad and Rence to catch some sheepshead and that is just what we did. 7 sheepshead and 9 reds. A great trip by any standards.
